Laurence J. De Respino Appointed AMERCO General Counsel

RENO, Nev., Oct. 12 the parent company of U-Haul International, Inc., the nation's leader in the do-it-yourself household moving and self-storage industry announced today that longtime member of the AMERCO Legal Department and Director of Litigation Laurence J. De Respino has been named general counsel of AMERCO.

De Respino has been with the Company’s Legal Department since March 2000. Prior to that, he was a partner in the law firm of Streich Lang.

“Larry has a terrific background in the law and a strong appreciation for U-Haul and the people who are the company,” stated Joe Shoen, chairman of the board of AMERCO.

Larry will be the Company’s fifth general counsel in 60 years. I expect he will perform at a high level for a very long time. This is a big job and Larry is up to the challenge. We have a very strong and capable Legal department,” added Shoen.

De Respino earned his undergraduate degree from Amherst College and then was graduated from Vanderbilt University Law School in 1987.

In addition to his professional commitments, De Respino is active in the community, most notably with the Men’s Art Council, which supports the Phoenix Art Museum. He is also a car enthusiast, with a fondness for performance cars from the 60s and 70s.
